September 24, 2026. Sparks, Nevada. The 1.7-million-square-foot Semi factory gets its official opening and freight is going to feel it. Put it on the calendar. That is the day the Tesla Semi stops being a slow-burn story and starts being infrastructure. Tesla is throwing an invite-only Semi Rollout at the dedicated plant next to Gigafactory Nevada. Factory tours. Ride-alongs in the production truck. A building sized to eventually push 50,000 Semis a year. This is not a podium-and-slides afternoon. It is a factory inauguration. Tesla is calling it the “inauguration.” That word is doing work. This is not a soft open for staff. It is the formal hello for a plant that has been rising and commissioning for years and is finally ready to be walked through.The first Semi rolled off the high-volume line here in late April 2026. Trucks have been coming off it since. September 24 is when the doors are officially open.The timing is not accidental. IAA Transportation in Hannover wraps September 15–20, which is where Tesla is finally putting European specs and launch details on the table. One of the more reliable community cameras has been sitting with the story while it moves. @SE Robinson Jr. posted footage of Tesla Semi business-development leads Jason Gies and Kelly White with Chris Kuna at Artur Express the new 2027 truck, 500-mile range, hour-ish full charge, quiet and smooth. Kuna flagged Midwest arrivals later this year. That is the kind of tape a press release never gives you.

Einride’s 500, with a real calendar on it
This one needed a timeline, and Einride’s CEO actually gave one. In a FreightWaves interview, Roozbeh Charli said about 75 of the 500 land before the end of 2026 starting this September and the other 425 by the end of 2027.
“The initial order is 500 trucks. We're expecting approximately 75 of that to be deployed this side of the year, and targeting to have the rest deployed by the end of next year.”

That is roughly 19 trucks a month for the rest of 2026, then about 35 a month through 2027. It fits a factory that is still climbing. The trucks run Amazon and other freight across California, Texas, New Jersey, Illinois, and Georgia on Einride’s Saga platform. Dan Priestley, Tesla’s Semi program director, kept the pitch simple: lower cost per mile from energy, less maintenance, better uptime than diesel and those savings get louder when you run the trucks at scale. Einride’s 2028 aim is 1,500 to 2,000 trucks in service. That is the number they have attached to cash-flow breakeven.
Who else is sitting in the truck right now
Two more fleets are in evaluation mode as the factory date approaches. Bison Transport one of Canada’s heavyweights, 2,100-plus trucks and 6,000 trailers out of Winnipeg has drivers on a Semi in the Chicago area. Early notes from the seat have been good. They are not announcing a buy. They are doing the grown-up version of a test drive: put drivers in it, learn the duty cycle, see if the math holds. Artur Express 48-state freight, Hazelwood, Missouri just had a Semi on the lot. Justin Bailey, their safety and claims director, put photos up. They have already added electrics before. This is not window shopping. The pattern is getting boring in a useful way. Inter Coastal in New Jersey, Paper Transport in Chicago, Bali Express in San Diego, Artur in Missouri , the fleets that get the truck on the pavement tend to start talking about an order.
Forum Mobility put Megachargers in the Port of Long Beach. Today.
Forum Mobility started installing Tesla Megacharger MCS units at FM Harbor, its flagship depot at the Port of Long Beach one of the bigger port-based electric truck charging sites in the country. They called the hardware “ultra-fast Tesla Semi-compatible charging.” Tesla’s charging-for-business side did not whisper about the math: “Especially in California, Washington, Oregon, and Canada — Semi Charging for Business financials are super attractive right now.”

Forum now has 100 Semis committed across four operators NICA (20), Big F (40), QX Logistix (20), ATC Logistics (20) all on Southern California port drayage out of FM Harbor and the coming FM Santa Fe site in Rancho Dominguez (14 MCS pull-through lanes, Q1 2027). The network keeps stretching — Salt Lake City and Norway
Two more pins worth a look as the factory opens: Salt Lake City, Utah - permits in for four Semi charging posts at Sapp Bros on California Ave, just off I-215, about two miles south of I-80. Another state moving from “planned” to “paperwork filed. ” Norway - Tesla filed with the roads agency for truck charging at two official rest areas: Mosjøen in Nordland and Svinesundparken on the E6 near Sweden. That is corridor thinking, not a trade-show prop. Svinesundparken has 77 overnight truck spots and sits four kilometers from the border. EU hours rules want a 45-minute break after 4.5 hours driving. A 1.2MW Megacharger fits that window like it was drawn for it. Open, permitted, announced it is all on the charging map. We add a pin when a permit surfaces.
How we got to September 24, 2026
Tesla showed the Semi in 2017. PepsiCo took the first trucks in December 2022. Then came three quiet years: real pilots, no mass production, no public charging, no firm Europe date. 2026 is the year the story changed speed. High-volume production on April 29. First public Megacharger in March. Bloomington and Vernon live at 1.2MW. Einride drops the largest order in the program. IAA locked for Europe. And now September 24th the factory opens. In California’s HVIP voucher program, the Semi took 965 of 1,067 applications between January 2025 and February 2026. Daimler, PACCAR, and Volvo together were under 100. That is not a mixed signal.
